Can dogs go in the creek?
Yes. Dogs are welcome in the Catskill Creek. We've had many dogs visit; some love the water while others prefer to stay out. In drier summers, dogs can explore the large flat rocks and splash in the shallower pools and rapids. Some guests also bring flotation devices for their dogs.
How deep is the creek?
How deep is the creek?
The Catskill Creek is generally shallow along our property – about 1 – 3 feet – with some areas reaching 4 – 5 feet. Depth varies with rainfall and from year to year, as winter ice and spring runoff move rocks and reshape the creek bed. Deeper swimming holes can be reached by swimming or walking in the creek about five minutes upstream or downstream.
How close is the cottage to the main house?
How close is the cottage to the main house?
Catskill River Cottage is about 60 feet from the main Victorian house, but the cottage, garden and paths to the creek are designed with privacy in mind. The main house isn't visible from inside the cottage's first floor. It can be seen from the round upstairs window, where blackout blinds provide privacy.
